Tribute to the Heroes

I still can see the day as if it was yesterday. I was in my office at Stratton AFB when the reports of the planes hitting the twin towers was reported. Moments later my commander LTC C called and asked me how quickly I could have my Cavalry Troop assembled and ready to move to lower Manhattan. Now it is 9 years later. In that time we deployed to Iraq and fought in the Sunni Triangle and have all come home to be back with our families. But, there are the brave souls of the NYPD and FDNY who did not make it out of that day. I would work closely for over a year with those fine organizations as I helped with the security of the bridges, tunnels and train stations of NYC. It was an honor to serve with such fine people. For the brave souls who did not make it back I bow my head and offer up a prayer for you and your families. For you are all truly Heroes!
